Call to action

Recognise mental health support as part of the lung cancer care pathway

The emotional impact of lung cancer disrupts the daily lives of people living with the disease and those caring for them. Too many receive no mental health support, and many struggle in silence. Psychosocial services should be offered at every stage of the care pathway, with trained professionals available to provide emotional care and counselling alongside medical treatment.

Give clear information so people can manage their disease and wellbeing

People living with lung cancer and those in a caregiving capacity consistently report the need for more medical information, guidance to manage side effects, and better communication with healthcare professionals. We call on healthcare professionals to provide clear, comprehensive information about lung cancer, available treatments and care options, so that those impacted by the disease can actively manage their health and their mental wellbeing.

About Lung Cancer Europe

Lung Cancer Europe is a not-for-profit umbrella organisation established in 2013 to provide a platform for lung cancer patient advocacy associations and networks at a European level. It is the voice of Europeans impacted by or at risk of lung cancer.

Lung Cancer Europe works with members and other stakeholders to destigmatise the disease and to help ensure that those impacted by lung cancer receive the care they need to achieve the best possible outcomes.
